What Are Dentures?
A denture, or complete denture, is a removable appliance that replaces missing teeth and supports your cheeks and lips—helping restore both function and appearance.
Most dentures are made from acrylic and can be designed in different ways:
- Conventional Denture: Made after teeth are removed and gums have healed
- Immediate Denture: Placed right after extraction so you’re never without teeth
- Upper Denture: Covers the roof of the mouth for full support
- Lower Denture: Shaped to fit around the tongue for comfort
Dentures can be made from plastic, porcelain, or a combination of materials. They can also be supported by dental implants for a more secure fit.
Over time, dentures may need adjustments, relines, or replacement as your gums and bone change. Regular dental check-ups are important to maintain fit and monitor your oral health.
