Denture Relines

Denture Relines
Over time, your gums naturally change, which can cause dentures to feel loose or less stable. Even well-fitted new dentures may need adjustments as your mouth adapts.
A professional reline reshapes the inner surface of your denture to match your current gum structure, improving comfort and fit. Regular relines—typically every 1–2 years—help keep your dentures secure and functioning properly.
Hard Denture Reline
A hard reline is recommended every two years to maintain a proper denture fit. During this process, a thin layer is removed from the inside of your denture and replaced with new material that closely adapts to the current shape of your gums.
The denture is then refined to ensure a precise fit, improving stability, comfort, and overall function.

Soft Denture Reline
For patients with sensitive gums or sore spots, a soft denture reline provides added comfort. It uses a flexible, cushioned material that adapts to your gums and reduces irritation.
This type of reline typically lasts 1–2 years and is less likely to cause pressure points compared to standard hard relines. It’s a great option for improving comfort, especially if traditional dentures feel uncomfortable.
Temporary Relines
If dentures haven’t been adjusted for a while, gums can become sore, swollen, or uneven—making it difficult to get an accurate fit for a new reline.
A temporary (medicated) reline may be used to help reduce inflammation and improve comfort. This soft, flexible lining allows your gums to heal and your denture to fit better during this period.
After a few weeks, once the gums return to a healthier state, you’ll be ready for a more permanent hard or soft reline.
